Hungarian Apple Pie





Ingredients

1 lb Bramley Cooking Apples.
4 oz's Butter.
1 to 2 tablespoons Milk.
6 oz's Plain Flour.
1 Egg separated
2 oz's ground almonds
Strawberry Jam.

METHOD
Pre heat Oven Gas Mark 6

Stew apples in as little water as possible
In a bowl sieve flour, rub in butter and mix to a dough with egg yolk ands milk.
Line 7 inch sandwich/pie tin with half the pastry and blind bake for 10-15 mins
Mix ground almonds with sugar
spread bottom of pastry with jam and part of the almond mix
whisk egg white till stiff and fold into stewed apple and put into the pie/sanwich tin
Sprinkle resy of almond mix on top and cover with remaining pastry
Brush pastry top with milk
Bake in hot oven 30 to 40 mins or until done.
Serve with cream.
